Data on participation in the organized breast cancer screening program, 2015–2016

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in France. As it does every year, Santé publique France publishes data on women’s participation in the organized breast cancer screening program. Every two years, this program invites women aged 50 to 74 to undergo a screening mammogram, supplemented by a clinical breast exam.

More than 5 million women underwent screening during the 2015–2016 period

Participation in the organized breast cancer screening program was 51.1% for the two-year period 2015–2016. After participation stabilized at around 52% between 2008 and 2014, these new data show a slight decline, which will, however, need to be confirmed in the coming years. This decline is observed across all age groups except for those aged 70–74, and in all regions of mainland France.
