The purpose of this call for applications is to establish a scientific advisory board for SaMarOya – Health Survey in French Guiana’s Interior.
Tasks of the Scientific Advisory Board for SaMarOya
SaMarOya, a health survey in the inland municipalities of French Guiana, is a cross-sectional, multi-thematic survey of the general population, led by Santé publique France in partnership with the network of Decentralized Prevention and Care Centers and Community Hospitals of the Cayenne Hospital Center. It aims to supplement the data available in French Guiana.
The establishment of a scientific advisory board is essential to ensure that the survey addresses the following key issues:
Scientific validity and relevance: survey methodology, sampling strategy, comparability with other surveys;
Compliance with quality standards in the collection, management, transport, analysis, and reporting of biological samples;
Production of indicators and interpretations useful for guiding health policies to enable the implementation of prevention and health promotion programs as well as healthcare services tailored to needs;
Consideration of ethical issues related to the protection of participants’ rights and well-being, as well as the survey’s impact on local communities;
Taking into account the sociocultural, ethnological, and anthropological specificities of the populations concerned in order to foster their support for the study and ensure that they, and their representatives, can use the results to develop advocacy initiatives.
This scientific advisory board will have several objectives:
Review the questionnaire and propose adjustments as needed
Review the pilot and survey protocols and propose adjustments as needed
To provide a critical review of the results prior to drafting the report
