Santé publique France is France’s national public health agency. A public institution under the authority of the Minister of Health, formed through the merger of several public institutions and established by Ordinance 2016-246 of April 15, 2016, the agency works to promote public health. As a scientific, expert, and public health safety agency, its missions include:

  1. Epidemiological observation and surveillance of the health status of the population;
  2. Monitoring health risks threatening the population;
  3. Promoting health and reducing health risks;
  4. Developing prevention and health education; 
  5. Preparation for and response to health threats, alerts, and crises;
  6. Issuing public health alerts.

The agency is organized into 12 departments—some scientific, some cross-functional, and some providing operational support.

The agency’s strategic priorities and work program, established by its Board of Directors, are organized into three areas: Strengthening the capacity for anticipation and rapid response to health threats; Measuring and assessing the extent of diseases and risk factors to guide their prevention and control; Strengthening the health impact of all public policies and the prevention and promotion of health.

Responsibilities

The intern reports to the coordinator of Outreach and Dialogue with Society and the deputy director of the DSIn.

Activities

Support for the strategy of openness and dialogue with society (ODS)

  • Supporting the ODS Steering Committee: preparing quarterly meetings, drafting meeting minutes, and monitoring the action plan
  • Supporting the coordinators of the six ODS pillars: monitoring activities, drafting memos and summaries, and supporting cross-functional coordination
  • Contributing to the achievement of the 2026 deliverables: in-depth assessment of practices within the agency, reference framework, pilot participatory initiatives, international benchmarking
  • Contributing to the ongoing evaluation of the SDG strategy: qualitative indicators, annual review, preparing dashboards for the Steering Committee and senior management

Collaborative Monitoring

  • Development and coordination of SDG monitoring: identification of French and international initiatives related to health democracy and dialogue with civil society; production of newsletters 

Secretariat of the Steering and Dialogue Committee (COD) – 2026–2029 term

  • Preparation of annual plenary sessions: agenda, compilation of member files, logistics
  • Drafting of minutes of decisions and meeting summaries
  • Support for the COD’s thematic working groups (regions and local policies, participation and expertise, open data): organization, progress tracking, and contribution to the production of deliverables
  • Contributing to the drafting of the COD’s annual activity report
  • Monitoring COD recommendations, updating dashboards
  • Participating in the cross-functional initiative on health misinformation
  • Organizing events involving the COD and the Agency’s external partners
