Responsibilities

Within the Exposure Monitoring Unit, the intern will work as part of the multidisciplinary project team to support the completion of the fieldwork for the first cycle of the Albane survey and begin preparations for subsequent cycles. The Albane Survey is a joint initiative led by Santé publique France (SpFrance) in collaboration with the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES). It is designed to provide the data necessary for carrying out their respective and complementary missions of surveillance and assessment of health risks related to Food, Biomonitoring, Health, Nutrition, and the Environment (Albane). The Albane survey consists of three components: “Food and Nutrition,” “Health Status ,” and “Biomonitoring,” which are based on a common survey structure comprising a questionnaire-based survey, the collection of clinical and paraclinical data through a health examination, and the collection of biological samples for testing and to establish a sample bank.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the unit manager and supervised by the Albane survey project manager, the apprentice will be responsible for carrying out the following tasks.

From September 2026 through the first half of 2027:

  • Assist the teams with the day-to-day management of the 120 clinical laboratories involved in the study: participate in on-call shifts to respond to requests from the MBLs and monitor the MBLs’ progress in conducting participants’ health examinations (follow-up calls, reminders of instructions, monitoring compliance with procedures, managing access to the online portal).
  • Help manage inventory of supplies used by the laboratories.
  • Contribute to the smooth flow of biological data: validate and compile data received from the MBLs, and prepare the necessary forms for billing the MBLs.

From 2027 through the end of the apprenticeship: participate in the development of Cycle 2 of the survey:

  • Help define new practical procedures for conducting the health examination and integrate them into the protocol;
  • Adapt questionnaires and communication materials for participants, and assist with the programming and testing of questionnaires;
  • Contribute to improving the IT tools used to monitor the survey;
  • Support the project team in preparing the administrative authorization documents for Cycle 2 of the survey (CNIS, Human Subjects Protection Committee, CNIL, Label Committee, Statistical Confidentiality Committee);
