HIV/AIDS Surveillance in France. Semi-annual Report No. 1. AIDS Data as of September 30, 2002

In January 2003, mandatory reporting of HIV infection was introduced in France to supplement the information provided by the AIDS surveillance system that had been in place since 1982. To disseminate all of this surveillance data, a biannual report titled "HIV/AIDS Surveillance in France," replacing the biannual publications on the AIDS situation in the BEH, will be produced by the AIDS-HIV-IST Unit of the Department of Infectious Diseases at the French Institute for Public Health Surveillance (InVS). This first report includes, in addition to the status of AIDS in France as of September 30, 2002, data on HIV testing activity in medical testing laboratories in 2001. Subsequent issues will also contain data from the mandatory reporting of HIV infection.
