How Is the Mental Health of the French Population Changing During the COVID-19 Pandemic? – Results from Wave 22 of the CoviPrev Survey

Key findings from Wave 22 (March 15–17, 2021)

  • 76% of French people say they are currently satisfied with their lives. This is a low level, down 9 points from pre-pandemic levels, with a stable trend

  • 20% of French people are experiencing depression. High level, +10 points compared to pre-pandemic levels, stable trend

  • 21% of French people are experiencing anxiety. High level, +7.5 points compared to pre-pandemic levels, stable trend.

  • 65% of French people report having had trouble sleeping in the past 8 days. High level, +16 points compared to pre-pandemic levels, stable trend.

  • 9% of French people have had suicidal thoughts over the past year. High level, +4 points compared to pre-pandemic levels, stable trend
