(* This article is a translation of the following publication: Spaccaferri G, Larrieu S, Pouey J, Calba C, Benet T, Sommen C, et al. Early assessment of the impact of mitigation measures to control COVID-19 in 22 French metropolitan areas, October to November 2020. pii=2001974. https://doi.org/10.2807/1560-7917.ES.2020.25.50.2001974). In France, a series of containment measures was implemented to control the second wave of COVID-19, including a curfew in certain metropolitan areas followed by a national lockdown. This study aims to conduct an early assessment of their effects using a descriptive approach. A change in the trend of confirmed cases and hospital admissions was observed approximately 7 to 10 days after the implementation of the containment measures. These changes occurred earlier in the metropolitan areas where these measures were initially implemented. This temporal relationship suggests a positive impact of the curfew, confirming international experiences.
