Survey of patients receiving treatment for chronic hepatitis C at referral centers
In order to develop and improve patient care, the Ministry of Health supported, between 1995 and 1996, the creation of "Hepatitis C" reference centers, 30 of which are university-affiliated hepatology departments and 4 (referred to as networks) are non-university departments. These centers are tasked with serving as scientific authorities on diagnosis and treatment, as well as participating in the training and education of healthcare professionals. Before implementing an information collection system designed to monitor hospital activity in departments treating patients with chronic hepatitis C, the Hospital Administration conducted a feasibility survey among the reference centers, the results of which are presented in this article. The objective of the survey is to determine the number of new treatment courses prescribed in hospitals for chronic hepatitis C in order to assess trends in the management of this condition.
