Monitoring of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning. Update as of March 3, 2013.

Since September 1, 2012, 980 cases of CO poisoning have been reported to the surveillance system, involving 3,160 people, including 33 deaths.

Over the past two weeks (2013_S08 and 2013_S09):

  • Two deaths occurred in residential settings due to a malfunctioning boiler.

  • Three mass poisoning incidents occurred in a banquet hall, a restaurant, and a nursing home, exposing a total of 67 people, 15 of whom were transported to a hospital emergency department. These incidents were linked to the malfunction of gas radiant panels in the banquet hall, the use of a large number of alcohol burners in the restaurant, and the malfunction of a stove in the nursing home.
