Monitoring of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning. Update as of February 3, 2013.

Since September 1, 2012, 785 cases of CO poisoning have been reported to the surveillance system, involving 2,559 people, including 28 deaths.

Over the past two weeks (2013_S04 and 2013_S05):

  • Among the 7 cases of CO poisoning linked to the use of a fire pit or barbecue, a mass poisoning incident affecting 7 people, including 1 death, occurred while using a fire pit in a home,

  • A mass poisoning incident occurred at a preschool in the Paris region involving 33 people, the majority of whom were children. The ongoing investigation is focused on identifying the source.
