Monitoring of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning. Bulletin as of October 1, 2013.
Since September 1, 2013,
56 cases of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning have been reported, exposing 164 people to CO fumes, of whom 29 were treated in a hyperbaric chamber and 31 were hospitalized.
One death from CO poisoning resulted from the use of a portable space heater in a residence occupied by a total of 5 people (the other 4 were hospitalized).
Two reports involved public-access facilities: a mobile home and a nursing home for dependent elderly individuals, exposing a total of 6 people.
In the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region, seven cases of CO poisoning occurred between September 22 and 23, during a period of mild weather.
