Monitoring of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning. Bulletin as of January 6, 2013.

Since September 1, 2012, 23 deaths due to CO poisoning have been reported to the surveillance system out of 589 incidents involving 1,908 people.

  • The decrease in the number of poisoning incidents observed during weeks 2012_S52 and 2013_S01 (54 incidents) compared to the same period last year (77 incidents) is mainly due to particularly mild weather conditions in recent weeks.

  • A mass CO poisoning incident occurred in a restaurant linked to the use of a large number of charcoal stoves on tables for fondue cooking, exposing 61 people to CO fumes, three of whom were taken to a hospital emergency department.
