Esteban for children and teenagers

1,000 children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 are participating in the Esteban study.

Their participation is essential to gaining a better understanding of young people’s diet, physical activity, and exposure to certain environmental substances.

Children's Health: A Critical Issue for the Future

Esteban was designed to provide new insights into changes in major health factors among children in France. In particular, Esteban studies allergies, asthma, and the levels of various chemicals to which young people are exposed (metals, pesticides, bisphenol A, phthalates, etc.).

Tailored analyses

The tests conducted as part of the Esteban study are tailored to children and adolescents:

  • health examinations conducted exclusively at home by a state-certified nurse trained in the Esteban study protocol (measurement of height and weight, collection of morning urine, cutting a small lock of hair, and drawing blood),

  • blood draw using appropriate equipment and a small blood sample,

  • specific physical activity questionnaire,

  • a tailored dietary questionnaire completed with a dietitian,

  • screening for common allergies.

Your child’s participation

Your child has been randomly selected to participate in the Esteban study. To confirm their participation, our team needs your consent (both parents) and your child’s consent. For methodological reasons related to the study’s conduct, your child’s participation cannot be replaced by that of another child, even within your family.
