Survival Rates for People with Cancer in Metropolitan France, 1989–2018 - Stomach

In France, for the year 2018, the estimated number of new cases of stomach cancer was 6,557, including 4,264 in men and 2,293 in women, and the estimated number of deaths from stomach cancer was 4,272, including 2,794 in men and 1,478 in women. Key points: 5-year age-standardized survival rate of 30% for cases diagnosed between 2010 and 2015; 6-percentage-point improvement in the 5-year age-standardized survival rate over 25 years (from 25% in 1990 to 31% in 2015); Improvement in 1-year net survival across all age groups, but little progress in 5-year survival from 1990 to 2015; Little change in 10-year net survival: a 4- to 5-percentage-point increase between 1990 and 2010 across all age groups; After 5 years of follow-up, the excess mortality rate is low for all age groups.
