Survival of People with Cancer in Metropolitan France, 1989–2018 - Gallbladder and Bile Ducts

In France, in 2018, the estimated number of new cases of gallbladder or bile duct cancer was 2,965, including 1,533 in men and 1,432 in women. Key points: 5-year age-standardized survival rate of 22% for both men and women for cases diagnosed between 2010 and 2015; 18 percentage point improvement in 1-year age-standardized survival between 1990 and 2015 (38% in 1990 and 56% in 2015) ; Improvement in 5- and 10-year net survival only for individuals under the age of 80; Stabilization of excess mortality at a very low rate after 10 years of follow-up.
