Survival of Cancer Patients in Metropolitan France, 1989–2018 – Nasal Cavities, Sinuses, Paranasal Structures, Middle Ear, and Inner Ear

In France, for the year 2018, the estimated number of new cases of cancer of the nasal cavity, paranasal sinuses, and the middle and inner ear was 806, including 552 in men and 254 in women. Key points: 5-year age-standardized net survival of 56% and 51% for men and women, respectively, diagnosed between 2010 and 2015; lower 5-year net survival among older patients: dropping from 64% at age 40 to 48% at age 80; Excess mortality differs by sex among the youngest individuals (aged 40 and 50 at diagnosis): among women, a decrease in excess mortality throughout the follow-up period; among men, a peak in mortality in the second year of follow-up.
