Key points
In week 14, the COVID-19 incidence rate remained very high, accompanied by a further increase in the positivity rate.
Metropolitan France:
Incidence rate rising slightly among people aged 50 and older, particularly among those aged 60–79
Decrease in the incidence and positivity rates among 10- to 19-year-olds for the second consecutive week
SARS-CoV-2 circulation remains high in all regions
Hospital admissions remain high and are rising in certain regions
Overseas France:
Incidence rate remains high and continues to rise on Réunion Island
Continued improvement in the epidemiological situation in Guadeloupe and Martinique
Variants
Omicron is almost the only variant in circulation, with its BA.2 sublineage accounting for 96% of sequences on March 28, 2022 (Week 13 Flash Survey)
Prevention
Vaccination as of April 11, 2022 (Covid Vaccine data):
73.5% of people aged 18 and older and 83.4% of people aged 65 and older had received a complete primary vaccination series and a booster shot
Only 9.2% of people aged 80 and older had received the second booster shot recommended for this age group
A second booster shot is also recommended for people aged 60–79, nursing home residents, and people with compromised immune systems
Protection against SARS-CoV-2 and influenza viruses currently circulating widely:
Wearing a mask and self-isolating if you have symptoms or test positive for COVID-19 remain important
Individual precautions against infection are necessary, including wearing a mask (especially in enclosed spaces, during large gatherings, or around vulnerable people), hand washing, and frequent ventilation of enclosed spaces
