Men's Health, March/April 2010, No. 406: What is the connection between religion and health?

This issue is devoted to the topic of religion, religious matters, and their relationship to health. Some fifteen experts analyze the many dimensions—philosophical, anthropological, and psychological—that characterize the "phenomenon of religion." The religious phenomenon is a health determinant rarely discussed in France, “even though it is a daily concern for various practitioners in the field.” Also in this issue: a WHO study demonstrates the relevance of empowerment (the development of individuals’ capacity to act). The main findings of the INPES Health and Nutrition Barometer survey. Interviews with France Lert on HIV/AIDS risk reduction, and with Pierre-Marie Girard and Amina Ayouch-Boda on the care of HIV-positive patients. And an article on the management of childhood obesity in Geneva hospitals. Finally, an interview with a preschool director in Paris on teaching children to “live better together.”
