Men's Health, March/April 2006, No. 382: Participatory Approaches and Health: Myth or Reality?

The main feature (30 pages) focuses on the participatory approach in health promotion initiatives. Eighteen experts—doctors, social workers, health educators, anthropologists, and others—discuss the challenges, benefits, and risks associated with implementing the participatory approach, drawing on their professional experience. Also featured in this issue are two series of articles on two current topics: first, suicide prevention, highlighting the groundwork being done in the Pays de la Loire region; and second, health promotion initiatives aimed at reducing the number of unwanted pregnancies among teenagers. Finally, the "Health in Figures" section presents the main findings of the latest INPES Health Barometer. And in a completely different vein, Clint Eastwood’s film "Million Dollar Baby" is analyzed to serve as a basis for a discussion with adolescents on risk prevention.
