La Santé de l'homme, Sept/Oct 2006, No. 385: Rural Life and Health
La Santé de l'homme dedicates the main feature of this issue to health education in rural areas. Discussion groups focused on memory in Gironde, volunteer drivers for the elderly in Manche, and support groups for suicide prevention in Sarthe... In total, some twenty initiatives are presented. Two experts from health education committees explain how to implement interventions in rural areas. In total, 30 pages of analysis and case studies, some of which are innovative. In terms of features, the spotlight is on the Fondation de France’s “Youth and Health” program, which focuses particularly on disadvantaged youth, and a new initiative using games to support children hospitalized for diabetes. Also included is the testimony of an alcohol specialist who works in the workplace to launch alcohol prevention programs.
