The skills of school nurses in support of health education.

In schools, the school nurse serves as the primary point of contact for health education. But how, in practice, can they promote students’ overall health when they are often occupied with providing medical care? Through strong support from the school and by working in partnership with teachers. School nurses are asking to be trained in teaching skills so they can share a common culture with teachers. If given the resources, they can put their expertise at the service of teaching teams to address health issues at school and bridge the gap between the curriculum and health promotion.
