School dropout: What's the problem?

Efforts to combat school dropout are heavily focused on intervention at the very moment a student begins to drop out. Once identified, various stakeholders work with the student to prevent the dropout from becoming a long-term issue. This approach does not give sufficient attention to what happens earlier on in the educational journeys of the most vulnerable young people. Survey of school dropouts.
