The Role of Public Policy in Addressing Social Inequalities in Health.
What public policies can be implemented to combat inequality? Pierre Larcher points out that social inequalities in health are often overlooked in national policies. However, in Quebec, a law that has no parallel elsewhere requires public authorities to take health promotion into account in all their actions. In Sweden, health determinants are taken into account in all policies. In France, at the municipal level, the Santé-Ville workshops demonstrate how local elected officials can take action.
