Reflections on the Care of Women from West Africa in Oncology
An anthropologist and a physician conducted a study at two French public hospitals, Avicenne and Delafontaine, in the form of interviews with 34 women from West Africa who were being treated for cancer at these facilities. They analyze the challenges that must be overcome to ensure the most appropriate care possible, thereby reducing these patients’ “loss of opportunity” in the face of the disease. It is up to healthcare professionals to make this knowledge more accessible to these women.
