The REDSIAM Network (Sniiram Data Network) – REDSIAM Special

The National Inter-Regime Health Insurance Information System (Sniiram) is a particularly valuable database for epidemiology, health economics, health evaluation, surveillance, and public health. However, it is complex and requires significant resources and expertise to use. This is why the decision was made to establish a network dedicated to better coordinating efforts regarding the use of Sniiram. The overall objective of the REDSIAM network is to foster, through the sharing of experience and interaction among teams, the development, validation, and promotion of methods for analyzing medical-administrative data for research, surveillance, evaluation, and public health purposes. It is dedicated to sharing experience, pooling, and capitalizing on knowledge in the field of disease identification. The network’s activities focus on the development and validation of the metrological qualities of disease-specific algorithms based on Sniiram data. Its governance structure includes a steering committee composed of representatives from the main organizations that produce and/or use Sniiram data, an executive board, and a technical committee. The network is organized into thematic working groups by disease area. Its operations are defined by a charter that establishes the rules for participation in the network, the functioning of the thematic working groups, and the rules for publishing and making algorithms available. The articles in this special issue of RESP present the initial results from some of the thematic working groups.
