Ponette.

The authors present a method for using films shown in theaters or on video that address issues relevant to health education. To illustrate their teaching guide, they draw on Jacques Douillon’s film, which depicts a young girl’s reactions to her mother’s death and the difficulties faced by the adults around her in helping her cope with her grief. Developed through a collaborative effort in Lyon and Liège, the guide uses an analysis of the film (with each viewer given the opportunity to share their thoughts) to identify the director’s central message, the film’s significance, and its connection to a holistic approach to health.
