Men in midwifery training: unique students, diverse backgrounds.

How do the few male midwives choose this profession? What is their experience during training? Insights based on observations and interviews. Their motivations for pursuing a career in midwifery are quite varied. Often viewed as outsiders by female students, instructors, and clinical supervisors, male students experience their training in different ways, particularly depending on their prior perspectives and practices regarding gender.
