Medical exposure to ionizing radiation. An information system on patients' medical exposure

The InVS and the IRSN have conducted an assessment of the French population’s medical exposure to ionizing radiation over the past 20 years. Recently published, the report notes a moderate decline in conventional X-ray examinations overall, an increasing use of CT scans, and a decrease in the use of X-ray examinations with contrast media. From a public health surveillance perspective, the available data on the distribution of different types of examinations and associated doses are limited. The InVS and the IRSN recommend the establishment of a sustainable information system on patients’ medical exposure to ionizing radiation. (R.A.)
