Their refusal to attend school reflects other difficulties—particularly family-related ones—that manifest as somatic symptoms. Hospitalization is accompanied by a re-enrollment program involving a psychiatrist, psychologist, and teacher, with a particular focus on therapeutic group workshops. The adolescent is actively involved, as are the parents; many of whom, having also experienced these academic difficulties, struggle to cope when their child drops out of school.
