The health status of immigrants is considered a significant public health issue due to the economic and social vulnerability that some of them may experience, which contributes to the deterioration of their health. This review of French studies on the health status and access to healthcare among immigrants suggests the existence of migration-related health inequalities and disparities based on country of origin. Furthermore, all studies agree that the immigrant population makes less use of healthcare services, revealing difficulties in accessing primary care. Finally, the more disadvantaged economic and social situation of immigrants, their reduced access to supplemental health insurance, and their lower level of social integration are the main factors explaining these health inequalities and disparities in access to care. This research calls for changes in health and social policies aimed at improving the health status and access to care of populations of foreign origin. (R.A.)
