Epidemiology of mucormycosis in mainland France, 1997–2010

It is difficult to estimate the increase in the incidence of mucormycosis at the national level due to the limited number of studies in the general population. This article analyzes and supplements the initial data from a previous study conducted between 1997 and 2006 by covering the period from 1997 to 2010 and incorporating a detailed analysis of risk factors. It confirms a real increase in the incidence of mucormycosis linked to the rise in the number of at-risk individuals.
