The consequences of radioactive fallout from the Chernobyl accident in France
For more than twenty years, the incidence of thyroid cancer has risen significantly. Did the Chernobyl accident contribute to this increase? Studies have been conducted to assess the consequences of the accident and strengthen surveillance of thyroid cancers. The first report from the working group on strengthening national surveillance of thyroid cancers represents a crucial step in analyzing the observed increase in the incidence of thyroid cancer in France.
