Comede: Health Checkups to Promote the Health of Refugees.
In 2006, the Comede Health Center provided nearly 15,000 consultations to patients of ninety different nationalities, the majority of whom were refugees who had fled their home countries. Thirty percent of these medical, nursing, or social services consultations were conducted in foreign languages with the assistance of professional interpreters. A therapeutic education clinic serves people with chronic illnesses. However, numerous challenges hinder access to care.
