Anorexia, Bulimia: Prevention, Education, Treatment: Learn More [Bibliography]

In recent years, eating disorders have been the subject of a vast number of publications. In particular, there are many personal accounts from former bulimics and anorexics. We have set aside this type of work to focus instead on publications by healthcare professionals and sociologists who offer their expertise on these conditions. We have chosen to organize this section around four themes that complement the thematic feature of this issue. A “General” section lists publications that describe the disorders, their effects on the patient, and their impact on the patient’s family and social environment. This is followed by some epidemiological data, then reflections on body image and the influence of the environment. Finally, the bibliographic section is rounded out by publications on the methods and effectiveness of care, whether medical, psychological, or social. A list of tools, websites, and resource organizations concludes the section.[article excerpt]
