In 2024, in mainland France, nearly 9 out of 10 adults reported having been exposed to heat wave prevention messages during the summer. Awareness of the symptoms of life-threatening heatstroke (incoherent speech and fever) decreases with age: fewer than one-third of people aged 60 and older recognize these symptoms. More than 9 out of 10 people aged 18 to 79 report limiting their physical activity during heat waves.
