Survival Rates for People with Cancer in Metropolitan France, 1989–2018 – Colon and Rectum

In France, for the year 2018, the estimated number of new cases of colon and rectal cancer was 23,216 among men and 20,120 among women, nearly two-thirds of which were colon cancers, and the estimated number of deaths from these cancers was 9,209 among men and 7,908 among women. Key points: 5-year age-standardized net survival of 62% among men and 65% among women for cases diagnosed in 2010–2015; 12-percentage-point improvement in 5-year age-standardized net survival between 1990 and 2015; Improvement in 5-year and 10-year net survival, more pronounced among younger individuals; Among individuals aged 80, a 5 percentage point increase in 1-year and 5-year net survival over the 2005–2015 period
