Introduction - Uterine cancer can be coded according to the 10th International Classification of Diseases in three categories: cervical, endometrial, or unspecified (SAI). In France, the proportion of "uterine cancer, SAI" among death certificates listing uterine cancer is approximately 60%. The objectives of the study are to estimate the distribution of “uterine cancer, SAI” into cervical and endometrial cancers based on data from the Côte-d’Or gynecological tumor registry. Methods - Cases of uterine cancer from the Côte-d'Or registry diagnosed between 1982 and 1997 and who died before 2003 were matched to the national database of medical causes of death (CépiDc) based on cause of death and dates of birth and death. Results - Among the 316 matched uterine cancer deaths, 130 cases were reported as "uterine cancer, unspecified," divided into 66 "cervical" (51%) and 64 "corpus" (49%) cases. Discussion-Conclusion - The small size of the study population does not allow for an analysis of the age distribution of “uterine cancers, unspecified” or for a comparison with the Jensen method used by cancer registries. An extension of the study to all French registries will be conducted in 2007. (R.A.)
