Key Points

The 2017–18 bronchiolitis epidemic in France was less severe than in the previous two seasons in most regions. In terms of timing, the epidemic began approximately two weeks earlier than in the 2015–16 and 2016–17 seasons. In mainland France, the outbreak began in week 44 of 2017 (early November) and ended in week 6 of 2018 (early February), lasting 15 weeks. The epidemic peak was reached nationally in week 48 of 2017 (late November) and was surpassed in all regions in week 1 of 2018.
