  • Three regions representing 25% of the annual population of newly retired craftspeople in France were invited to participate

  • 15,030 retired male and female artisans invited during the 5 campaigns, who retired between 2004 and 2008

  • 9,125 respondents (representing a 61% response rate)

  • 85% men (7,777 men – 1,348 women)

  • Average age at enrollment: 60 years

· 39 years and 5 months of professional activity, including nearly 29 years as a craftsperson

· An average of 3 different jobs

· 29% have been craftswomen their entire lives, with the vast majority holding a single job, and 71% have worked as both craftswomen and employees

· The public, social, and personnel services sector (NAF) accounts for 61% of the 3,797 reported jobs
