Asbestos in the Environment in France: From Exposure to Risk

Natural mineral asbestos, classified as a carcinogen and banned since 1997, is still present in many buildings and industrial settings. Potential exposures are monitored to protect the general public and workers who may be exposed. However, there are natural asbestos outcrops in France that are not subject to any regulations or controls, and which may be a significant source of exposure for the general public.
