The third wave of the 1995–96 Adult Health Barometer provides a valuable database for tracking changes in the opinions, attitudes, and behaviors of French adults aged 18 to 75. Alcohol, tobacco, substance abuse, and screening for female cancers are the main topics covered in this survey. However, this volume includes certain innovations related to its more comprehensive and cross-thematic approach:

  • models of interrelationships between various health behaviors and attitudes were the subject of specific investigation: intensity and quality of the social network, life events, the subject’s perception of potential control over their behaviors...

  • Quality of life in all its physical, mental, and social dimensions was specifically addressed in relation to health behaviors.

  • A population-based approach was also prioritized for seniors (ages 60–75) and people living in rural areas.

The 1995–96 Adult Health Barometer is intended for anyone interested in the health of the French population, particularly policymakers and public health professionals.
