In Week 28 (July 6–12, 2026), the number of emergency department visits was down among children under 15 years of age (-9%, or 7,266 fewer visits) and remained stable among adults. The number of hospitalizations following emergency department visits remained stable across all age groups.
Amid a heat wave over the past week, there was an increase in visits for:

• Hyperthermia/heatstroke across all age groups (+35%, or +290 visits).
• Dehydration among those aged 15–74 (+6%, or +18 visits).
• Insect bites among 2- to 14-year-olds and 15- to 74-year-olds (+7%, or +80 visits), at levels typical for this time of year.

Among other conditions, there was an increase in visits for:

• Intestinal conditions among children, with rates higher than in previous years: vomiting (+6%, or +98 visits) and gastroenteritis among 2- to 14-year-olds (+5%, or +43 visits).
• Conjunctivitis among children under 2 years old (+6%, or +13 visits) as well as among those over 75 years old (+25%, or +12 visits).
• General malaise in children under 2 years of age (+22%, or +46 visits).
• Isolated fever among those aged 75 and older (+15%, or +62 visits).
