A study of conversations between callers and a suicide prevention organization.

A team of researchers, supported by INPES, analyzed thousands of emails sent to a suicide prevention organization. The organization, referred to here as "Association Y," had set up an online counseling and support service. Poignant testimonials "put into words" the suffering and reveal a range of feelings, from experiencing rejection to a sense of abnormality: even though they are surrounded by people, some feel alone because their social relationships are too superficial; others feel as though no one sees them, as though they are invisible, and thus experience contempt and indifference.
