No locally acquired malaria cases have been reported since July 2020.
Mayotte has been in the malaria elimination phase since 2014.
A gradual increase in the number of imported cases over the past 3 years (peaking in January 2024).
Plasmodium falciparum is the predominant species, accounting for nearly all imported cases reported in Mayotte.
Among the cases reported in 2024, 30% required hospitalization, including 4 admitted to intensive care. No deaths were recorded.
