"For teenagers living in social housing, instability doesn't make learning any easier" [Interview].

The Samusocial de Paris Observatory conducted a study showing the significant impact that the challenges of daily life in social housing have on adolescents. For instance, frequently moving from one housing facility to another—and thus changing middle or high schools, which are central spaces for socialization—limits adolescents’ sense of belonging to a particular community, which hinders the process of peer integration. Based on this observation, the authors, Odile Macchi and Nicolas Oppenchaim, recommend that continuity of schooling at the same institution be the primary criterion for (re)housing families.
