Bronchiolitis, COVID-19, and the flu in the Hauts-de-France region. Update for February 19, 2026.

Key Points

Lower Respiratory Tract Infections (acute lower respiratory tract infections, all etiologies)

  • Activity continued to decline in emergency departments (visits and hospitalizations following visits) and at SOS Médecins. The incidence rate measured by the Sentinelles network also decreased.

Bronchiolitis (< 1 year)

  • Activity in the SOS Médecins network, as well as that recorded in emergency departments (visits and hospitalizations), fluctuated within the ranges observed in previous seasons.

Influenza and influenza-like illnesses: Eleventh week of the epidemic phase

  • Downward trend in all surveillance indicators: SOS Médecins, the Sentinelles network, as well as in emergency departments for visits and hospitalizations following visits. Viral circulation was also decreasing.

COVID-19

  • Activity remained low and stable in emergency departments and at SOS Médecins.

Mortality

  • After four weeks of excess mortality from all causes (from S01 to S04-2026), mortality data indicated a return to expected values in S05, a trend that was confirmed in S06 (unconsolidated data). Flu-related deaths recorded through electronic certification continued to decline.
