Epidemiological Surveillance in the Lorraine Region. Update as of June 25, 2015.

Key Findings

  • In Lorraine, emergency department activity related to allergies peaked in week 23 with nearly 180 diagnosed cases, then returned to the usual fluctuations in week 24. This activity accounts for less than 1% of total diagnoses and is similar to activity in the previous two years. In week 25, for the SOS Médecins Meurthe-et-Moselle association, activity was lower than in previous years (14 diagnoses, representing less than 2%).

  • According to the National Aerobiological Surveillance Network (RNSA), the allergy risk is moderate to high for grass pollens depending on the department in Lorraine.

  • The number of asthma diagnoses recorded by emergency departments and by the SOS Médecins Meurthe-et-Moselle association remains comparable to the number usually observed.Over the past two weeks, 76 and 60 weekly diagnoses were recorded in emergency departments (approximately 0.5% of total diagnoses) and between 10 and 13 by the SOS Médecins Meurthe-et-Moselle association (less than 2% of total diagnoses).

  • Following an increase in the number of heat-related illness diagnoses in week 23, recorded by emergency departments in Lorraine and the SOS Médecins Meurthe-et-Moselle association, activity at these facilities has returned to usual weekly levels. Despite this temporary increase, activity for these conditions remains comparable to previous years.
