Dengue Fever in the Caribbean. Update as of June 13, 2024.

Key points

Guadeloupe and Martinique

  • In Phase 4, Level 1 of the PSAGE* dengue alert system: confirmed epidemic.

The overall decline in surveillance indicators continues, with values now below those recorded at the start of the epidemic. The DENV-2 serotype remains predominant.

However, vigilance must be maintained and efforts to control the Aedes aegypti mosquito should even be stepped up, particularly in areas with high tourist potential: last month, 67% of dengue cases imported into mainland France were from travelers returning from Guadeloupe or Martinique.

Saint Barthélemy and Saint Martin

  • Sporadic cases and isolated outbreaks with no epidemiological link(s).

  • Dengue circulation remains at low levels.

* Surveillance, alert, and epidemic management programs.
