Dengue Fever in the Caribbean. Update as of January 4, 2024.

Key points

Guadeloupe and Martinique

  • In Phase 4, Level 1 of the PSAGE* dengue alert system: confirmed epidemic.

  • Outbreaks continue in Guadeloupe and Martinique. Hospital surveillance indicators, particularly those for emergency room visits due to suspected dengue, have generally been declining over the past few weeks.

Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin

  • In Phase 3 of the PSAGE dengue alert system: confirmed epidemic.

  • Most dengue surveillance indicators are decreasing compared to the previous week; however, there has been an increase in emergency room visits in Saint-Martin.

Given the closure of a large number of private practices, trends in indicators from sentinel physician networks should be interpreted with caution in all four territories.

In the French West Indies, only the DENV-2 serotype has been identified in the samples analyzed.
