COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of August 25, 2022.

Guadeloupe

  • In S33, a decline in SARS-CoV-2 circulation was still observed across the archipelago.

  • The incidence and testing rates, adjusted for the August 15, 2022, holiday, decreased by 7% and 17%, respectively, while the positivity rate increased by 1.6 percentage points. The 40–49 age group recorded the highest incidence rate.

  • The effective R over the seven-day rolling period from August 14 to 20, 2022, of 0.83—95% CI [0.77–0.88]—remained significantly below 1 and continued to indicate a slowdown in SARS-CoV-2 transmission.

  • In hospitals, the situation was favorable, with a decrease in new hospital admissions across all departments and in admissions for suspected COVID-19. However, the number of new critical care admissions and deaths remained stable in Week 33.

Saint Martin

  • The epidemiological situation regarding Covid was favorable in Week 33.

  • From a virological perspective, new SARS-CoV-2 infections continued to decline, with a testing rate adjusted for the August 15, 2022, holiday remaining stable. The positivity rate was close to the alert threshold and also decreased by 2.9 percentage points in Week 33.

  • Hospital activity was low, with only one visit to the emergency room for suspected COVID-19. No hospital admissions were recorded in Week 33.

Saint-Barthélemy

  • Fewer than ten additional people tested positive compared to the previous week. The positivity rate increased by 3.1 percentage points in Week 33.

  • However, the situation remained calm at the hospital. As of August 24, no visits for suspected Covid-19 were recorded in the emergency department, and two new hospital admissions were entered into SIVIC in week 33.
